LOOK: The Department of Health (DOH), through its Health and Facility Development Bureau (HFDB) on Monday, awarded two hospitals in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) for their exemplary performance in promoting sustainable healthcare practices.

The Maguindanao Provincial Hospital (MPH) received a prestigious 4-star rating, while the Dr. Serapio B. Montañer Memorial Hospital earned a 3-star rating for their achievements as Green Health Facilities, particularly excelling in Indoor Environmental Quality.

Green Health Facilities represent a key commitment to sustainable healthcare, incorporating energy-efficient technologies, waste reduction practices, and resource optimization. These efforts not only reduce environmental impact but also foster healthier, more resilient environments for patients and staff alike.

The DOH underscored that the recognition of these hospitals highlights their efforts to integrate environmental sustainability into healthcare delivery, a crucial factor in ensuring long-term health outcomes and climate resilience.

Maguindanao Provincial Hospital’s 4-star rating reflects its leadership in setting a high benchmark for sustainable healthcare. Meanwhile, the 3-star rating awarded to Dr. Serapio B. Montañer Memorial Hospital is a testament to its strides in creating a healing environment through environmentally conscious practices.

The DOH hopes these recognitions will inspire other healthcare institutions across the country to adopt and enhance green initiatives, ultimately benefiting the health of both people and the planet.
