
A total of ten (10) persons with disabilities from the province of Maguindanao have received customized wheelchairs from the Ministry of Health on Tuesday, May 9.
Dr. Saffrullah Dipatuan, minister of health, said that the ministry aims to improve access and reasonable accommodations of person with disabilities to general and specialized health services.
Official data show that around 35,000 or 1.07% of the region's population have some form of disability.
Aside from giving of wheelchairs, the ministry will ensure the development of policies, standards and guidelines, service packages and capacity development and rehabilitation interventions for the full access to health services of PWDs.
The said project is in partnership with Cotabato Regional and Medical Center, Southern Philippines Medical Center, Physicians for Peace, Church of Latter-Day Saints Charities and Moropreneur Inc.

The Bangsamoro autonomous region through its Ministry of Health has launched the regional office of the National Nutrition Council on Monday morning, May 6.
The nutrition council aims to help alleviate malnutrition and hunger as well as improve the nutrition situation in the region.
Abdullah Cusain, assistant executive secretary who represented the Chief Minister Murad Ebrahim said that the Bangsamoro government is committed to support all the stakeholders in reducing malnutrition among children in the region.
The Bangsamoro government, Cusain said that "investing in the health of every child is investing in the better tomorrow for the Bangsamoro people."
Dr. Saffrullah Dipatuan, minister of health, noted that addressing the nutritional challenges is one of the priority focus of this administration.
"We must have concerted efforts to combat malnutrition in the region," Dr. Dipatuan said.
