Davao City – The Ministry of Health (MOH) is taking a major step towards improving healthcare in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) with its Hospital Facility Development Plan (HFDP) for 2025-2030, which is funded by the Bangsamoro Autonomy Act No. 56 and the General Appropriations Act 2024 (GAA 2024), that aims to enhance and standardize health facilities across the region.
As part of the planning process, the MOH is currently conducting a series of presentations, reviews, and workshops in Davao City this August 19-23, 2024, to ensure a smooth and sustainable implementation of the plan. These sessions provide a platform for hospitals to assess their current state and strategize for future development. The goal is to create a comprehensive and well-documented plan that meets the healthcare facility needs of the region over the next six years.
The HFDP 2025-2030 has several key objectives which seeks to create a standardized framework for hospitals, elevate the quality of healthcare services, and actively involve health officials in the planning process to ensure that the HFDP aligns with both national and regional development goals. The Ministry aims to create a healthcare system that supports and answers the long-term aspirations of the Bangsamoro people.
In his speech, Dr. Kadil M. Sinolinding, Jr., who just commemorated his 100th days in service in the Ministry, emphasized the need for collaboration and inclusive participation of all stakeholders in creating a comprehensive plan to better equip the facilities of the hospitals and other healthcare infrastructure in BARMM. “Without you, I am nothing. You are the source of my strength. We can achieve many things when we are in unison. When we are together, and we move as one, malayo po ang ating mararating.” He stated.
This ambitious initiative aligns with his vision to modernize all healthcare facilities and to ensure that every Bangsamoro has access to efficient, reliable, and accessible healthcare services without needing to travel to neighboring regions.
